This is absolutely the best tool I have encountered in my law enforcement career.
It was created with the DRE in mind and was not rushed to market just to get it out there. The owner took the time to make sure EVERY aspect was perfect…FOR US!!! And he knocked it our of the freaking park!!! A rugged, well built “All-in-one” for the DRE and beyond. Anyone who gripes about the price, I ask them how much they have paid for their stimulus, white light and UV and the gripe stops…I then tell them that they now have all kinds of other cool timers and other stuff basically for “free”. A little more expensive, but think about all the disposable lights you have thrown away. And this is more than just a light. The timers are awesome, not just for SFSTs, but for the DRE. No more looking at the watch taking eyes and attention off the subject. Absolutely worth every cent!

I have an X3 and am a DRE. Total game changer.
Simplifies everything. The thirty second timer is helpful during pulses if you are like me and don’t have a traditional watch and have a digital watch that doesn’t stay illuminated. The red light doubles as the perfect stimulus for intox subjects to follow during HGN and solves the issue of a contrasted stimulus day or night. Everyone in my department that I have shown this light to has asked for one.

I have evaluated the X3 and find that it meets the requirements and guidelines for light sources used by DREs and other officers.
The X3, which includes not only a VERY GOOD uniform white light, but also a UV light, a red fixation light for HGN/VGN testing, and timer functions to train officers on the HGN test components as well as for the 15-, 30-, and 90-sec timing periods used for direct light, OLS, and dark room wait period, respectively. I found it very easy to use, with very elegant styling and feels good in the hand. It had only been a few weeks since my SFST re-cert and I pulled over an impaired driver. I began HGN and was thinking to myself, is it out 2 in 2 out 2 hold 4… UGH. That really made me shy away from hunting drunk/drugged drivers. Then I saw a friend of mine doing HGN with the X3. He is a DRE. I checked it out and hopped on your website and bought one. I practiced with it and use it on stops. The timers are great for HGN and I love the 30 second timer for OLS. I also use the UV for detecting fake ID and residue in their nose and mouth or clothing. Now I know I am dead on with my timing and know I am doing HGN 100% accurate. And the best part, I look forward to hunting drunks and saving lives! You guys deserve product of the year!

I am a DRE in Maine. The X3 stood out to me when I looked online for a universal light that contained a UV light and a white light. I purchased the X3 and I could not be any happier. The light is very durable (dropped it several times in the jail) and contains everything you need! This was clearly built for not only DRE’s but anyone who enjoys hunting drunk drivers as much as I do. Please give the X3 a chance, you will not regret it.

Well, I admit I was hesitant and skeptical about it when I first saw it at a convention. I thought it was going to be another one of those fly by night gimmicks that didn’t really work so well and the company would disappear like so many others. After getting a demo by “The Desk”, going hands on with it and having a good discussion with him, I became a fan. The X3 is strong and durable. It’s not one of those cheap plastic lights. I believe it can withstand a lot of force, like dropping it and maybe even running over it. It’ll take a lot to kill it. I mainly bought it for the illuminated red stimulus, UV and white light, and timers. As a DRE, this combines multiple tools into one. I never liked having to carry multiple lights out in the dark room and then not knowing which light I grabbed out of my pocket without turning it on. The red stimulus also working as the dim light for the pupillary exam is nice not having to break off the finger tip of my glove to do so, keeping my PPE intact. The timer for the dark room exam is nice too as my watch doesn’t illuminate well. The HGN timers a neat too. I think it’s a great tool to use in training new recruits so they can get the muscle memory down for the timings. The single AAA battery also surprisingly lasts a LONG time, which makes this even more reliable. The Desk also told me how they will replace the light if it fails due to almost anything that may happen to it. I carry mine in my vehicle and I’m ready to grab it when I get that suspected DUI. I bought my X3 out of my own money (not an agency purchase) and it wasn’t a freebie. I’m glad I did and haven’t regretted the purchase. I would highly recommend it to new officers to seasoned DRE’s!

When I was shown by another DRE about this product, I was hesitant but after using it at our Michigan School as an instructor, I was sold. The product features every light you need in all 3 lighting conditions from the indirect, UV, and direct lighting. I have done plenty of evaluations and know my timing is solid but having it as a tool just assures you on timing so it’s not challenged in court. The 30 second Romberg, 90 second dark room and timer for OLS is all there. If you like to use it to time your HGN, go for it because it’s there. I like the training tool it offers for new ARIDE/DRE training officers who might not be %100 on their SFST because it’s a perishable skill. I like the durability of it because as cops, we can’t have nice things because we break them. I like this tool because it was thought with a DRE in mind with the light lumens not being too bright and meeting the TAP recommendations. What I like doing is getting impaired drivers off the road and this will assist me in that process without a doubt. I look forward to showing this tool to our DREs in Michigan.
